(continued from Episode 1)
Not a bad way to start my day right? Calm sea, beautiful day, picturesque sky, life could be so much worse as the ferry nears the port of Venice. Approaching the first pieces of land after a day and a half in the sea:
To be honest I don't envy the former though the site looks nice from up here:
So does the cruise ship:
Unlike the industrial area next to it:
Even worse, unfortunately that's where we dock too!
All this longing to see Venice was in vain. The big ships no longer dock in the city but South of it. Totally understood, it's to protect the foundations of those old houses but what a beautiful view it was to see this masterpiece from above. Now it's over. If you wanna have a bite read about it in a past trip of mine here.
Also the ride on the SR11 connecting Venice with the mainland was a nice bit but instead I have to queue at numerous checkpoints under the hot sun like this:
I'm finally out of the port but the traffic is so heavy. And the weather might not be that hot but it's rather humid which makes it far from pleasant. But it's the traffic that breaks my balls like nothing else right now. I have more than 500km to do in non toll roads in order to arrive next to South West Bavaria and if only I knew that the vast majority of them would be under heavy traffic. Very few and short parts allowed me to ride as I'd like to and even if so after a couple of bends it's over. Pity cause this route has scenic parts through valleys and up in the mountains.
A happy local fishing solo in his boat:
One too many tugboats around:
Eye candy for us humans but also a heaven for birds:One too many tugboats around:

Right before entering Germany light rain starts. I stop at a filling station to judge situation. Wearing my rain gear under the summer sun will make me sweat like a pig at lightning speed. The clouds seem to move slowly which is bad but the rain is pretty light where I stand and the weather seems to clear in the direction I head to, NW. So I decide to risk it and continue. Bad idea. After only a couple of km it rains dogs and cats. My camera dies cause it was charging and loses the last video so here's a video with the rest of the ride up to that point:
(again, my music on this one)
. I am semi soaked till I manage to find a shelter. Rain gear on this time. I hit the road again in heavy rain and try to remember the rest of the route cause my helmet's Bluetooth has now a dead battery and I can't expose my phone in the rain cause the drops cause unwanted clicks. I can almost hear the instructions though from inside my jacket - funny🙂. I'm glad my "amateur musician" ears are still alive and kicking after all these trips. Wear your ear plugs boys and girls!
A few tens of km before I arrive at my German AirBnB weather is brilliant again so I stop to take my rain gear off:
Nothing dries clothes like summer heat while riding. From semi soaked I arrive bone dry at my hosts. And what hosts they proved to be! God...
