In the previous part (2) I stopped halfway my exploration of the West side of Lefkada island. Time to continue touring around this beauty which is rich in steep slopes hence the countless view points attracting me to stop like this one close to Agios Nikitas:
The one I find a few minutes later heading South is more odd as it suffered from a wildfire recently so this time the majestic Blue of the sea is combined with the Black of the fire's touch, all peppered with Spring's Green:
Same view point stop a few more minutes later though the overcast doesn't really highlight the beauty:
At this spot one can find this cute little church which is actually there for a not so cute reason:
You see such things are there as memorials of a lethal car/bike accident.
Last shot before I hop on my bike:
It's such a joy to ride around the island as I continue South and feels like the answer to "can it get any better" is rather confirmative the close I get to Egremni. A sweet ride among pine trees comes to a dead end a couple of km before that beach cause the municipality is doing repairs on the road. Before I even start feeling unlucky one employee shows me a view point so that I can enjoy the beach from far and above. As I carefully approach the edge (cause once you miss a step you're gone for good there) I get a feeling I won't be able to thank him enough:
This becomes obvious as I turn my head to the left:
How awesome is this? Now that you have an idea about how steep it is I can easier explain you how come its name as "gremos" means "cliff" in Greek.
My eyes get some of the best Blue/Green combos at this point:
Hard to decide to leave a place like this but there's more to see around so time to jump on my bike waiting patiently under the shade of those pine trees:
A couple of kms later South as I head for my next destination I fall on that funny fender covered by shoes and sandals. No idea how it all started and how come but here it is:
You know you drive on the right roads when they offer you stops like this:
From there one can see part of the Egremni beach you saw before:
Who wants some more? I do:
Ridiculously beautiful isn't it? Unreal. And there's more! Check out the next view point only a couple of km later:
My eyes are beyond happy and I get the feeling my bike's feel the same:
Just in case you wonder my bike's parked at the balcony of a closed cafe 🙂
I commented on the "can it get any better" before and chances are that by now you might say "no". Well, I got news for you. Ladies and gents, please put your hands together for one of the best places on Earth, Porto Katsiki:
If this isn't totally fucking awesome then what is? You can get an idea of how it impressed me (yes, even me, a sea spoiled Greek) have a look towards the end of the video I will put at the end of this post.
Here's the North end of this bay:
Makes no surprise it attracts campers even during off season with questionable weather like now:
By the way, pretty cool camper that green one right? The guy came all the way from Switzerland. The other ones are from Germany and Slovakia. Lucky to be in this heaven instead of their homes.
Even at the best and remote places there's always at least one wanker spraying shit:
Here's another view of this bay from above opposite side:
Yep, this was definitely one of the highlights of my travelling career so far. As I ride back to my AirBnb I collect bits of Spring around olive groves I find on the way:
I promised you a video didn't I? There you go:
To be continued 😊
