Hello boys 'n girls!
Welcome to the beginning of my longest motorcycle trip so far. Ahead of me are 4 months of riding around Europe till I end up in The Netherlands and then ride back again.
As if things were not keeping me busy enough over the last days prior to such a long road trip, I got extra last minute commitments poping up, reminding that Murphy's law is stronger than physic's laws. I prefer to share the positive side of things though so I'll skip them and just mention that I was trying to meet commitments literally till last second before I jump on my saddle on a sweet Spring morning to go from the seaside East of Athens all the way up to the North end of Greece.
The whole route is more of a time trial for me rather than a joy ride cause I want to arrive as early as possible and do some work on my laptop as soon as I settle at my AirBnb. In this case I have no better choice than taking the toll road despite the fact that I hate them.
I get a feeling that the insects I killed while riding would have hated me even more if there's life after death for them:
My headlight is already half blind and I am only halfway:
No complains though on such a nice day:
This could be captioned "Bugs 'n Bags":
So you might wonder how things look like as soon as I arrive after 586km.
I got you covered:
Though I should better say "they (bugs) got me covered":
Took my a while to get most of them of and by "most" you can imagine I don't have time to spent of pristine looks at the moment.
However, I must not forget to mention that I stay at one of the best places I've ever booked in my 13 years old travelling career. It's my second time here and I was the first one to book them ever. Though it was a bit of risk trying a new place back then (September of 2019 - you can check it here) I couldn't thank myself more afterwards. Seriously, they must be the most adorable hosts I've ever had. Not only back then but once again right now. I mean, is there anything better than something like this waiting for you after a long riding day?
And yes, if you can't tell already by the looks I can assure you the housewife is a top cook and the salad is organic straight from their garden. Can it get any better? I don't think so.
And they don't stop here - even though we now know each other they paid attention to every single welcoming detail as if they wanted to impress a first timer. Have a look at my bed:
Wonder what's that paper roll? A personalised message:
Even the toilet paper begins with this handmade decorative detail:
And a bunch of local herbs for my breakfast to make the whole thing feel like heaven:
I could write a separate post with all the details but you can just look at this listing and cross check my experience with others's.
Plus the balcony view is not bad at all:
I gotta leave you now cause I have tons of things to do while at the same time I'm dying for some rest so have a look at the riding 4K timelapse I made on the way with my own original music:
Apologies for the poor visibility after the middle but as you saw before too many bugs to allow enough clarity. This timelapse was set at 0.5sec interval which is a little too fast but as the ride was mostly straight toll road I thought this would match better. The next one I will do will probably be a little slower hopefully making you feel less seasick 🙂
See you on the next one!
