My first motorcycle trip in Europe (June 2009 - Part 6 Innsbruck - Brenner)

Our North ride out yesterday (see part 5) could have been much better weather wise so today we try our luck leaving Innsbruck behind to head South to Italy:

As I ride up the slopes on Brenner road (182) camera girl behind me takes shots of the city on every corner of this winding road:

And rightly so, it's a nice route with great view. Not that the road ahead isn't:

Especially under this sky:

It's pretty mountainous here but my partner in crime manages to capture the few but cute green flats:

The sky is such a painting:

It's a cloudy day like yesterday but much brighter and I can't praise these colours enough:

These rock formations on the right are like sculptures:

You can see that they are bolt on for safety

And now ladies and gents, one of my favourite bits of this route though it's made by man not nature - Europabrucke:

It's an impressive construction that hosts the A13 toll road. We get the chance to enjoy it riding on the 182 under this extra long bridge:

After the bridge follows a nice twisty part heading South:

It's all nice as long as you're not stuck behind a slow camper and fortunately we're not:

State of art clouds:

The road is more straight around Matreiwald:

I can't have enough of this clouds making out with the surrounding peaks:

We're both first timers here and we both agree that even from far these Austrian villages look irresistibly cute:

Today the local Alps wear a white hat:

I like this pair of churches at Schofens:

I like to see this as a welcome ceremony for us here:

We continue South always on the 182 in this heaven of green and white:

Here's a guy with the same bike as mine - that reminds me how new these bikes were in 2009:

The weather gets friendlier and more promising for a magic carpet ride as we keep heading South:

Remember that bridge of the A13 highway before? At this point as we get closer to the Italian border it gets even more impressive. Sorry for the potential redundancy but I can't leave any image out so... enjoy:

By the way, can you read the fuel prices of that era? Almost half of today's:

Life was so much easier then in so many ways...

We are (kinda) overlooking Brennersee lake right now which is behind those trees, on the right of that OMV fuel station (which is still OMV today🙂):

And it's obviously called Brennersee since we are leaving Austria behind at Brenner:

Bye Austria, see you later in the evening and see you guys in part 7😉
