(continued from part 3)
We're literally one breath away from the German border at Scharnitz where this cute building on the right is the local Catholic church:
This town is located right below the German border on a valley surrounded by Alps. On a day like today it's also covered by clouds, quite an exotic scene for a first timer's Mediterranean eyes (that's me):
Looking at this I wonder how we manage to stay dry so far:
This restaurant near the North end of Scharnitz is now unfortunately closed:
15 years later it now looks much more neglected:
How time treats as all eh?
We leave the last buildings of the town behind:
Heading North towards the rainy weather:
Finally and unsurprisingly we get some wet tarmac as a "willkommen" from Germany:
Still I wonder if there's a first timer's umbrella for me hence it's not really raining yet. No complains, that allows space to enjoy the (far from summer looking) scenery:
It's more like winter right now actually:
Could be worse though, there's still plenty of visibility to enjoy the view of this valley which splits the local Alps:
My partner in crime is as excited and takes pictures at machine gun rate. The next couple speaks about the speed of her index finger:
Again, it could be much worse:
We head West now towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen and we make a short stop a few km before at Kaltenbrunn to judge the weather and decide what's next. This cute hotel provides a nice pit stop:
Yours truly pictured while picturing:
Weather looks OK(ish),
so we decide to move on.
No worries as long as the clouds are white:
This Bavarian valley makes an attractive contrast with the clouds and the dark Alps around as we continue North:
Still beautiful:
