After a full day riding (see previous part 8) we're back in Innsbruck for out last night here. As we walk around Innbrucke, the main bridge of the city, we collect our last images here. I didn't notice this family was staring at us at that moment:
Of course I have a good excuse as those ever lasting clouds over the surrounding Alps kept catching my attention:
Plus of course the local architecture which is vastly different to what I'm used to:
It really feels like those cute buildings lined up to be pictured:
I really doubt this thing is still here cause as far as I can recall back in the day it used to be some sort of internet device:
Any input on that will be appreciated as I couldn't retrieve details about it today 15 years later. I do remember how much I loved it here and I guess you can tell by that look on my face:
What you see in the distance above though is Neue Hungerurgbahnbrucke.
This "thing" has you covered in case it (surprise surprise) rains and looks like it might so...:
Still the view behind me is gorgeous:

b) The pros of neighboring Italy
Feel free to add yours
There's even some sort of beach here but don't expect me to be impressed coming from "heaven to swim" Greece:
This city is so surrounded by Alps that it almost feels like you can reach out and grab them. It's so picturesque, fairy tale and cartoon like at the same time in the best possible way.
We've walked the old center on our first day and we loved it so we do it again on our last one. Since I've walked you around on part 1 I'll just let the pictures do the talking now:
This city was bound to become one of my most revisited later during my travelling career. Loved every single one and I guess you now know why. Time is merciless though so after our last lovely breakfast at the hotel I leave my partner in crime at the train station and I ride back to Venice's port to take the ferry back home. With just one short stop here a few km before:
I do the check in, enter the ferry, leave my stuff in my cabin and go out on the deck to enjoy some (finally) summer weather with sea view as I leave Italy behind:
Lovely views of a sea so calm that felt like I could walk over like Jesus. Next day I am back over in Hellenic waters and the first close view of Greek soil is Kaparelli rock with its lighthouse called "Peristeres":
This next rock is called Prasoudi and its right outside Igoumenitsa's port:
And the ferry enters the port of Igoumenitsa:
As the ferry docks we experience a very close call with another one:
Fortunately no harm so I make it to my destination at Patra's port to then ride 200km back in Athens without delay.
Here's a video with clips from the whole trip:
So this was my first ever European trip boys 'n girls. Fascinating how it became publishable with the help of AI. Some images were painful to look if impossible to actually. Needless to comment on the videos which despite the technological evolution in these 15 years still remained far from great. Hopefully still giving you an idea though of how it was on and off bike.
It's also quite impressive that with the tools of today I managed to identify things I've seen back then and I had no idea about. Reverse image search and Google Maps combined with the time stamps of the images did wonders in reconstructing the routes I took back then. Those are not cutting edge tools any more of course but AI makes the huge difference on refreshing content and we're only at the beginning of this.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned cause you don't know how far the undusting of my old content will go. There's still unpublished stuff😉
