The HIVE Tour - Episode 25 - From Styria to South Bavaria

All nice things come to an end and the top hospitality of the Wagner family at Knittelfeld Austria couldn't be an exception even though it was undoubtedly exceptional. One more long riding day ahead under questionable weather conditions for one more time.

Smokey Alpine peaks in the background, a dirty windscreen in the foreground (sorry guys will clean it later), and a sweet route as I head North West. In other visual words something like this:

Sweet little towns on the way with low traffic - not bad at all:

Always respect cyclists - overtake given the maximum space possible:

No, Pöls town is not on fire, it's just the local paper factory:

Though it kinda looks like it smokes more than if their paper was on fire 🙂

A group of bikers overtakes me (waving hands or legs) later,

However, at this junction some of them miss the right turn to St. Oswald,

and continue on the 114 resulting to this:

First world problems 🙂

Here's the entrance to Möderbrugg:

By the time I exit it I exchange waving hands with one more group of bikers:

Weather's still dry, route is still scenic, can't complain at all:

Some guys drive cool cars but this one actually matches the colour of my new helmet (see previous episode):

I could ride all day on these roads watching the snowy peaks in the background:

Well, that's what I do now more or less anyway 🙂

Waving at other bikers waving at me on bends like this isn't bad at all either:

Austrian countryside does its best to leave this country behind with the nicest of impressions:

Since too good to not capture it with a proper image I stop for a decent picture here before Klachau:

At this point I think I found the proper place to pee:

Not bad at all:

I think my new helmet matches the vegetation around doesn't it?

Watching the vegetation while peeing = priceless:

Did you notice in one of my previous images that I've placed a can of oil on the bike? While I have to loose some liquids it has to gain some instead:

No biggie, its oil consumption is still the one it had from factory which is far from high. It would be better if it was zero to spare me from carrying oil in long trips but I guess we can't have it all. Now for the ones who have an eye for detail, that other small container on the left yes, it also has oil but that's for the drive chain.

Back on the track heading North West:

Here I am on the 145 at Sankt Agatha:

The next stop is at Wolfgangsee lake and I think you will understand why by the images:

Hence it's flooded by camper vans. I wish I could take a video with the original silence of the lake but with all this traffic from the 158 behind me this is impossible so I move on:

Only to stop again shortly NE of the lake to admire the view:

Some bikers greet me in a more intense way than others:

Now I am on the much less scenic highway getting ready for the 6th country of my trip so far, Germany:

The traffic is much heavier than I expected at the border:

Hello Germany - it's been a long time since the last one!

I meet many campers on the way but this one is among the cutest ones:

The rest of the ride is autobahn boredom except only the very last km before I arrive at my AirBnb SE of Munich which happens to be above the best restaurant around.

You can watch the ride here,

and stay tuned about the local cuisine and other beauties to be published shortly!
