How time flies...
As I arrive at my AirBnB in this Bavarian village South of Munich I am wondering when it was the last time I enjoyed this beloved region of mine and...shit...I have to go back to 2014 to recall memories from here. (In case you wanna have a look click any of those green motorcycle pins around Chiemsee lake on my map)
Fortunately, the weather here is finally proper for the season and the view from my balcony is not that gross either:
Full Bavarian isn't it? Just like my host, a full Bavarian girl, properly equipped to serve the tables of the Bavarian restaurant downstairs. Bavarians know what I'm talking about but even non Bavarians might not have to stretch their imagination that much either.
She's an absolute sweetheart downstairs too where I wait my Bavarian friends, Andreas and Tina, to dine together. Last time we saw each other was during my last pre COVID trip, summer of 2019 on my way back to Greece from Italy. Ancona's port was steaming hot and I was trying to hide myself from the laser penetrating sun behind a truck's container where Andreas was extroverted enough to start a chat. The people I meet on my trips and stay in touch with are a special casting worth as special mention. Andreas and Tina are dedicated bikers for decades and while it might not be such a surprise for a Bavarian guy like Andreas, Tina has travelled all the way from Germany to Greece back in the 80s solo on her XT600. Now picture the surprise of the guys watching her kick starting her bike with ease. Electric starters back in the day were something like 5G today.
I start this lovely evening with my friends with...what else?
And later this:
The above might look just OK but tastes super delicious. Yes, the portion is far from Bavarian (my dear host now waitress warned me) but for the taste alone totally worth it.
When all is eaten and done I ask what's available for dessert and as soon as I listen the magic words "strawberry cake" my decision is made at lightning speed. It's not fair to not be able to share taste via images but this things is absofuckinglutely orgasmically fantastic:
At the end of this epic dinner Andreas kindly invites me for some rides tomorrow and later BBQ at his place to which you know my answer already don't ya? No better way to go to bed after some top food with top guys like them and great plans for tomorrow.
Tomorrow comes with some nice weather so I take the chance in the morning to walk a couple of km to the supermarket for some much needed stuff. In case you wonder why not take the bike, trust me, your body thanks you if you do so after a hard riding day and before another riding one. Besides, while walking you have all the time in the world to picture whatever catches your eye. So, here's how the houses look like around here:
It's such a perfect day and the previous weeks have been so miserable that the trees I meet on my way look like they smile to the sun:
Daises too:
At the supermarket I find this thing:
It might be regular in Germany/Austria but I am not sure I have them as easy in my hometown and after I tried these instead of ice cubes during my stay at Knittelfeld I really liked the idea. Sounds stupid to carry this thing for the next 3 months? Well, if you ask me this question then you're talking to a guy who brought a whole piece of wood on his bike all the way from Basque to Athens just because it was a cute find while walking in the woods 🙂
Time has come to cook something before Andreas arrives for some riding and...I find out that the pots of my budget studio are not precisely budget. Or is this Bavarian budget?
I guess that's the pros of living over the best restaurant of the area. Some of its equipment ended up at my studio 🙂
Gotta leave you now to please my stomach before I hit the road later. Stay tuned cause there's great stuff coming up.
See you on the next one!
