Picture this:
It's a beautiful day here South of Munich and I'm waiting for my local friend Andreas who is willing to ride around with me and later invite me at his place for a BBQ at his garden. Can it get any better? Probably not.
I'm killing time waiting for him to arrive by taking pictures of my neighbourhood on this sweet day:
We start the ride heading West and as soon as we leave Westerham behind it's all forest with tall trees or green "cow's heaven" fields around us. Combined with a mainly clear blue(ish) sky makes the whole thing an eye candy.
We make a first stop at the beer brewery of Valley, a nice old building flattered by this sunny day:
Opposite side of it is the brewery's restaurant:
In other words, everyone crossing Valley gets a stereo visual experience from this brewery that's hard to miss. We don't try any beer or food though I'm super tempted to because we're only on the start of our tour, so we move on heading South.
Green fields with bits of forest once again and as soon as we pass the 8 highway under the bridge we change heading Eastwards. That leads as to Seehamer See a lake that is a local attraction. Now, as a Greek, I can't avoid laughing at its name cause it sounds like a Greek trying to say "disgusting" in German while being clueless about the language.
Here's Andreas's iron horse with the (not so disgusting) Seehamer lake in the background:
I'm tempted to cross that bar for more pictures:
And rightly so:
Here's an image of the route so far from Google Maps:
If you prefer a link of the route you can click here.
And this is an audio/visual summary of it:
(As usual the audio consists of my tunes)
We leave the lake behind riding South East till soon we make a loop to enjoy the rural area via Niederhasling and Loiderding. Really nice but we face a first world dilemma at at this point critical decisions have to be made:
And what a lovely spot this is for critical thinking, regardless your heading (pun might be intented):
Seriously, the scenery feels like it could offer numerous wallpapers for your OS.
We cross the 8 road under the bridge heading South till we soon make one more short stop, this time for the church of St.Marinus at Wilparting:
I take this picture while I'm still on my bike so I'm pretty happy with the result.

Video of the ride:
(Again, blame me for the audio 🙂)
We leave that church heading East kinda parallel to the 8 road and as soon as we cross Dettendorf we continue more South than East, sort of in parallel with the 93 road. So far the ride has being mainly flat (altitude wise cause impression wise is far from flat) but as we now ride parallel to the river Inn which borders Germany and Austria I can see some fair amount of mountains on my right hand and I'm sure Andreas is bound to take us up there.
Surprise surprise, after Niederaudorf we turn right which means West and after Seebach it's all pure mountainous biker's heaven. That's all thanks to Sudelfdeld, the local (and not so local) motorist's attraction due to those numerous lovely corners and it's fairly nice tarmac. The latter has offered a good clean up on my tires, something that I feel on the increased grip my bike has now but also witness it as we make a stop at the local biker's nest for a drink:
What impresses me is the wider than expected "chicken strip", meaning the unused width on my tires (as you can see it's almost a cm). When I ride like that in Greece I almost finish them on the sides. It might be because the Bavarian corners have much better inclination and grip than the average Greek ones hence less leaning needed. Or it might be the riding style I have adapted lately which is more efficient. Interesting case study but let's focus on other things at the moment.
Like this old German beauty at the parking lot:
That green slope in the back:
We still have to head for a drink at this place though:
I told you it's a biker's nest didn't I?
However, unfortunately I don't experience its full potentials because food wise I have a BBQ pending later so no food and drink wise I have Bavarian police around here which I don't think I should try their tolerance to Greek drivers driving with Bavarian beer in their stomach. So it's just a Radler for me and off we go.

As you see we've already done things that others would consider stuff for a couple of days but that's the pros when you have the right people to show you around and Andreas is a dedicated tireless biker. So, as if that's not enough already, we continue South on the aptly named road "Tiroler". And what happens when you drive South on "Tiroler"? You end up in Tirol region which means..."Hello Austria" for the second time during this trip!
It's a lovely route between the mountains following the river Trockenbach where after Wacht the route continues East. Thiersee is such a joy (wait for the video later) though the rain we get later is not as much. Especially since I don't wear my motorcycle boots but my hiking boots instead. I try to cramp my feet behind the bike for as long as this lasts and fortunately it doesn't last too long so despite being heavy at times I stay dry for the most part.
We're now at Achensee where the rain is almost over and the landscape is gorgeous (again, wait for the video) but it's not all "stop for pictures" friendly yet, something that is possible later after a wonderful route back in Germany (yes, hello Germany again!) at Sylvensteinsee.
Enjoy the pictures I take from the local Damm:
Really sweet. The weather not as much so we skip the risk of spending more time here, plus we have a BBQ waiting at Andreas's place and I am on a mission to return back at my Airbnb, 60ish km away from Andreas before it gets (too) dark.

After all this fantastic riding we spend another half hour on our saddles to make it to Andreas's home where he shares his heaven with his sweetheart Tina. Not sure how casual it is for local standards but for me, being a big city boy, it feels heavenish enough:
The guys also have a bunch of turtles that take care here!
Under the shade of this lovely tree,
it's time for the BBQ to begin:
Tina is not a big fan of burgers so the boys, me and Andreas, have our bread ready and waiting:
BBQ is more smoking now,
because it's got more stuff to handle, more vegeterian to be precise:
Time to stop drooling and start eating:
Yummy! Not that the vegeterian part is not - it absolutely is:
I'm invited by generous people and I think it really shows:
As you can imagine I can't thank my dear Bavarian friends enough. I say goodbye to Tina and Andreas hoping we manage to meet tomorrow before I leave their region to head North. Now I have to ride the last tens of km back to my AirBnb after this long rich day.
See you on the next one!
