The HIVE Tour - Episode 34 - First walk around Wittelsberg @ Essen Germany

I wake up at this cute little village named Wittelsberg in the center of Germany on this not precisely warm summer morning but a bright day and a cute neighbourhood easily make up for this:

Besides, it's way much better to walk in sub 20s C than in the heart of a heatwave.

Everything around here is so clean, neat, tidy and most of the times pretty good looking:

In such level that I wonder how come this crooked line in the middle of the road:

It looks like I now walk in the old part of this little village hence these old wood houses:

My goal is to make it to the top of the local hill to check out a few bits up there plus (obviously) the view so I follow this uphill path:

At some point I get a nice mix of the green shades of the trees with the village's houses in the background:

It doesn't take that long to make it to the top where the first thing I see is the local church:

The sun is still low and that doesn't help with photography but there's a price to pay when you are an early bird preferring to picture places in the absence of humanity. Speaking of the latter, (humanity that is), that's where the locals go for their forever home:

So yes, that's the local cemetery:

This is another side of the church, hard to capture against this harsh sun behind it:

My German doesn't help me that much (if any at all) but this monument probably refers to WWI:

This one must be about the next World War:

Hopefully two World Wars were already more than enough and we won't face one more (ask Ukrainians why just in case you wonder).

I can't find substantial info about this tower that is located here neither can I enter it unfortunately but here it is badly pictured as the sun doesn't help:

(Just in case anyone can provide more info about it you're more than welcome)

Here's the view to the North East:

That tower must look nice at night with this lighting but I can't verify it:

I can share with you two more daylight pictures of it so you see it from all sides possible:

Oh, that signs says something about this medieval thing, in German though:

Same goes for this one:

A few more shots of the church while the sun is not that against me anymore:

It also has this cobblestone part in front of it:

Here's a 4K video from this hilltop including all he above:

One more view to the village as I go down now:

Animals prefer the shade and so do I:

Actually the guy who owns them has a nice fence too:

Back at my place it's time to rest and cook. Easy but tasty:

FYI, this is tortellini with spinach and ricotta escorted with aubergine salad and dry tomato powder.

Time to take a rest, see you on the next one!
