Weather up here SE of Bonn is still challenging and though it doesn't rain it feels like it can do so anytime so I feel pushed once again to grab any chance given for exploration. And this one doesn't look bad at all:
What you see above is the view right out of my door - not bad right? See the rest of the village as I walk through:
It's called Mahlberg and if weather was better I'd stay here forever. Take this as an early morning humour, I don't want to imply that I can afford it.
My mission is to make it to the top of the local hill hence my walk is uphill all the way:
A bit uncomfortable to walk the main road in the absence of sidewalk,
but I'd be the last to complain with the view it provides including some cool houses around:
Now I'm in much more pedestrian friendly environment, still going uphill:
Trees framing pictures - my favourite moment:
The road feels deserted:
But the view this route provides on my left looking down is lovely:
Here's where vehicles stop:
And that's the view on my back before I continue walking up that road:
As you can see this road was made from cobblestones before it was paved with tarmac later but the winter here has different opinion as you can see from those scars:
Again, who cares with a view like this:
The road goes up:
The view remains sweet:
And now I enter the little forest of the hill:
In the distance behind the trees I get the first view of my target, Kapelle St. Michael:
In order to get there I have to walk this gravel road:
As I walk surrounded by trees I see on my right this:
Impressed that this thing is there alone kinda in the middle of nowhere I continue the walk which gives me closer views of the Chapelle step by step:
Steps later I realise that the previous item wasn't just by itself there - here's one more:
It becomes obvious that the idea was to represent the stages of Jesus suffering and I start wondering "if they have made one for each stage the road must be full of them". And that's what it is in real pretty much:
I'm not religious but... how cool is this!
Getting closer to the Chapelle meanwhile:
And the stages go on:
There's a wall of dark stones surrounding the Chapelle:
More stages:
And I'm finally just a few stairs away:
Enjoy the Chapelle:
On my way down I decide to follow a different route:
This actually leads me to the rest of the stages - so nicely done!
Full of stages and impressed by the whole thing I walk down my way out of the woods:
In the open space now I enjoy a much different view:
And here at this spot you are offered a free frame for pictures:
Gotta be a pre Instagram thingy judging by its orientation 🙂
Back at my place I enjoy myself the German way:
And I cook, as usual, my own way:
Bon Appetit, see you on the next one!
